Tile looks great on day one, but what makes it last is the waterproofing and prep underneath. Interior Floor Designs installs tile floors, walls, tub surrounds and custom showers throughout the greater Seattle area, using professional-grade setting and waterproofing materials. We've been installing floors since 1982, and we handle the whole project: demolition, subfloor repair, waterproofing, tile and radiant heat.

Tile Services

  • Custom showers. Walk-in, curbless and traditional curbed showers, built on a fully waterproofed base.

  • Curbless (zero-entry) showers. A seamless, step-free entry that's accessible for aging in place and looks clean and modern.

  • Linear drains. Slim drains along the wall or entry that allow large-format tile and a single-direction slope.

  • Tub and shower surrounds. Retiling or new installs with waterproofed backer systems.

  • Tile floors. Kitchens, bathrooms, entries, mudrooms and laundry rooms.

  • Backsplashes and walls. Feature walls, kitchen backsplashes and wainscoting.

  • Heated tile floors. Electric radiant heat installed under the tile.

Tile We Install

We install ceramic, porcelain, natural stone and glass tile, from classic subway tile to large-format porcelain slabs. Brands we carry include American Olean, Daltile, Glazzio, Olympia Tile & Stone, Surface Art and Thompson Tile.

H2: Built Right Underneath

Most tile failures start below the surface. On every job, we:

  • Waterproof wet areas with modern shower systems, never just cement board with a plastic sheet behind it. [Name the systems you use, e.g., Schluter-KERDI, Wedi, Laticrete Hydro Ban.

  • Flatten and level the floor with Schönox and Uzin levelers, so large tiles sit flat without ledging (uneven tile edges). Leveling services.

  • Repair the structure when needed, including subfloor and framing, before tile goes down.

  • Use top-quality mortars and grouts that suit the tile size and the room.

Heated Tile Floors

Electric radiant floor heat turns cold tile into the most comfortable floor in the house. We install the heating system inside the leveler or mortar bed, so it's protected and heats evenly. It's a popular upgrade for bathrooms, kitchens and basements.

We Manage the Whole Project

A shower remodel involves several trades. We handle demolition, structural repairs and tile, and we coordinate the schedule with the homeowner, the general contractor, the plumber and the electrician, so each step happens in the right order.

  3. Demolition and prep. We remove the old tile and repair or level the subfloor.

  4. Waterproofing and installation. We build the shower system, then set, grout and seal the tile.

  5. Final walkthrough. We review the finished work with you and leave care instructions.
